Granada’s my favorite city in Spain mainly because of the majestic Alhambra.
It is beyond spectacular— from its intriguing history and breathtaking views to its ingenious and incredible architecture.
I do not know how to perfectly describe this fortress and palatial city in one post so I will just share with you my list of reasons on why I fell in love with this magical place:
The Alcazaba (fortress) is the oldest part of the Alhambra. It was built in the mid-13th century by Sultan Alhamar, the founder of the Nasrid dynasty. He established the last Moorish stronghold against the Christian crusaders.
Palacio de Carlos Quinto looks like a ‘lost’ palace in the middle of Alhambra.
It’s so different from the usual Moorish architecture of its neighboring structures that it looks like it’s a separate attraction. Part of Alhambra was actually demolished in order to build a palace after the name of Spain’s king.
