Six years of dating can be tiring. From boring and just ok... to fun and unforgettable, I think I have had a colorful dating history. My friends would always tell me that I should stop being too picky so I could finally settle with a boyfie. But you know what? This long and dragging dating phase has taught me that, as exhausting as it can be, it helped me a lot to realize what I exactly want in a man and in a relationship.
Fastforward to 2018, I can finally say that I had the best and longest date-- the kind of date that I can finally be proud of and make a semi-cheesy post on my website. Apologies to my previous dates :-P
But before jumping to my best date ever story, here is a little background on how I ended up with my hunk date. (Disclaimer: No monetary agreement was made, only hypnosis :-)) )
My amazing friend Ruziell Sto. Tomas, the sales and marketing director of Sol Y Viento Hotels, invited me to join their Media and Bloggers' fam tour.
After getting turned down by my friends for my plus 1 (thank you, dear friends, for being busybees!), I decided to take a risk and invite D, a guy I met while jogging (yes, running must be repaying me with so much love after my shin splint). He's cute, funny, sporty, nice, and smart and I thought that maybe we'll get along fine for a long weekend date. It was a spontaneous invite and I would never regret my decision to shut out my Maria Clara instincts. Luckily, he said yes (after asking me 'Are you sure?' 100 times).
Either I was hypnotized by my date D... or maybe the romantic feels of Tagaytay and Pansol conquered my hormones...
Or maybe I really had the best date of my life!
Venue#1: Sol Y Viento (Pansol, Laguna)
Going back to my best date story... our first venue was Sol Y Viento and its newly opened Costa Tropical. My memories of Pansol were not exciting at all. I can only remember its hot springs... espasol... and nothing more! So I was surprised to see this hidden gem nestled on top of a hill.
My favorite part about this resort is its beautiful panorama. Views of Laguna de Bay and mountain ranges were so breathtaking! And you can soak with this kind of vista while you're relaxing in its pools and jacuzzis.
For those who want some privacy, its cabanas even have indoor natural hot spring jacuzzis.
What sets this apart from other resorts in Pansol is this gigantic pool complete with slides and sprinklers. Even kids-at-heart can enjoy this!
D and I were supposed to dip in the pool but the live band, food, and cocktails made us forget why we brought our swimwear :-P Sure, it's not your typical date setting, but when you have a live band playing reggae, rock and love songs all night, it becomes a fun romantic date. And the view from the hilltop made it even more romantic!
I am lucky to have a date who appreciates music just like me ;-)
I could not ask for anything more when I was blessed with a great view, upbeat music, unlimited cocktails from sunset 'til evening, and crazy company! I guess these are some of the reasons why D's my favorite date-- He can converse well, he cracks me up so much, and he's always game to try anything!
D and I even got henna tattoos. And it's for free!
Dating for four consecutive days may sound scary... if you and your date do not jive well. Lucky me, and surprisingly, I did not get tired of my date. Or else I would have pretended that my +1 was a ghost (or the other way around!). I guess D was as crazy as I am, so we ended up having a great staycation together.
Venue #2: Alta D' Tagaytay
Our next venue was Alta D’ Tagaytay, a hotel with a perfect backdrop of Taal Lake.
I loved how this hotel paid attention to details and welcomed its guests with enough warmth… and sugar!
And look at the homey interiors of its rooms! It’s so spacious and almost everything’s made of wood. Its large glass window will offer you a breathtaking view of Taal.
Forgive my poor photography skills, but our room looked 10000 times nicer in real life!
Unlike most Tagaytay hotels, Alta D’ Tagaytay is located in a quiet neighborhood, making it an idyllic weekend getaway if you want to escape from all the stress and chaos. I can’t wait for its infinity pool and other amenities to open soon!
I also love the wooden staircase and piano in the lobby. I regret not taking a photo for it would have been an IG-worthy shot!
The most romantic part of our long date was when we chilled on the rooftop. We were so lucky to have a violinist play some romantic songs for us. Combine the very cheesy music with the fresh breeze, twinkling stars above, and romantic view of Taal Lake... and I completely forgot about the other dates I've had in this lifetime :-))
The rooftop bar served us unlimited sangria and margarita!
Good thing I have high alcohol tolerance, or else I would have jumped off the cliff... or I would have kidnapped my date for good :P
The food was also amazing. Thank you, Alta D' Tagaytay, for pampering us with so much TLC.
I wouldn't have enjoyed this long staycation without the TLC of Sol Y Viento Hotels... and of course, the craziness and sweetness of my date D.
There was never a dull moment and I thank the universe for allowing me to find a sweet and crazy gentleman who can bear with my corny jokes and craziness. (And no, this will not turn into a cheesy post).
I have never had a super long date like this; and being a person who can easily get bored with her company most of the time, this is a breakthrough for me. (#Nagayuma?)
And I don't think that it was just because of the romantic feels of Pansol hills and Taal lake. Sure, these lovely places helped in making me get in touch with my feely feelings once again; but I have never felt so comfortable and connected with another person instantly. Even without the romantic setting, I will forever remember those beautiful conversations, being in the moment, and being with a person that made me laugh so hard that I literally cried tears of joy.
What made this date finally making the cut in this long post is because of D's bright, positive, and caring personality. (Let me reiterate, D did not pay me to write those adjectives :-)) )
It's only once in a blue moon when you get to meet someone who exemplifies most of the things that you've always wanted-- sporty, family-oriented, emphatic, loves food, witty, smart, converses well, sincere, has a badass Spotify playlist (that made my heart melt a little bit), and a lot more but I don't want to bloat D's ego ;-)
The only catch is that I eat more rice than him :-P
Looking forward to more dates with this one. I don't know how much longer he can tolerate my craziness. But for now, I am holding on to this beautiful hope that I'd be able to get to know more of this crazy dude and share more adventures and laughter with him ;-)
Naks! Joskolord! Ang cheesy ni Tita Jazz!
