White. Black. Brown. Gray--- You have probably seen these beaches in different parts of the world. But have you seen a RED beach in this lifetime? ;-)
The rarity of its crimson color and breathtaking cliffs make Kokkini Beach, also known as Red Beach, a famous spot in Santorini, Greece.
Located at the southern coast of Santorini, one must take a ten-minute walk (from the parking) along this narrow beach trail in order to reach the beach. It is also very near the archaeological site in Akrotiri. For those who do not want to walk to the beach, you may take photos from the view point near the parking.
Some locals say that walking near the cliffs can be dangerous because of occasional landslides.
The sight of unusually red and black-colored volcanic sand surrounded by towering red-colored cliffs is so bewitching!
The rocky beach is not really perfect for swimming and it can get crowded here during summer.
But relaxing here and taking loads of photographs should not be missed ;)
Be sure to check out these cute doors to nowhere (or teleportation?) ;-)
Santorini is definitely not just about its blue-colored domes, turquoise blue waters, and orange sunsets. It also has this unique red beach to fall in love with ;-)
